Grandmother
Lineage: DELGADO |
| My
maternal grandparents met and wed in El Paso, Texas on October 3, 1921. They
had two children there (my Aunt Stella and my Mother) then moved to
Los Angeles and had three more children: Mario, Alice and Roy. My
Grandmother died in 1933 during childbirth, a fate that would befall her
daughter Alice in 1952. All the Espinosa children attended Los Angeles
schools including Belmont High School |

Grandfather
Lineage: Navarro |
|
|
 |
The
picture on the left was painted by my great, great,...n, grandfather in
15,000 b.p (before present). No, really!! I had my Y-DNA tested a few months
ago and the results concluded that my R1b1 haplogroup points to distant
paternal ancestors (the Navarros going back eons before the name even
existed) who migrated to Western
Atlantic Europe (Ireland, England and northern Spain) during the last ice age. I'm
Cro-Magnon which is quite a relief because I thought for sure I was part
Neanderthal. Turns out my ancestors are the ones who made sure the
Neanderthals' days were numbered. From Spain some Navarro made his way
to Mexico (trying to find out when), most likely intermarried with the
natives, then migrated to the US in the 1920s. |
I don't know much about my paternal grandfather
other than he was born in Mexico around 1900 and probably died there in
1940. He and my grandmother had two sons born in Chicago IL. Joe in 1924
(my father) and Alfred in 1927 (my uncle). |
Paternal
Grandfather, Jose Navarro. Picture is from 1929 possibly Chicago, IL or
Mexico. His father (my Great
Grandfather) was Jose Maria Navarro and his mother (my Great Grandmother)
was Refugio Garcia. |
